GIRL LEADERSHIP IN THE OUTDOORS
This podcast is made for people new to Wild Hearts Idaho, and those already familiar. It offers insight behind the creation of this non-profit, hosted by two dedicated nature lovers, Madeline and Emily, who happen to be on the Youth Leadership Board! Passionate about spreading WHI’s enthusiasm for girl leadership and the outdoors, the pair set out to share their own experiences and highlight those of fellow adventurers.
“We chose to create a podcast knowing they could be both informative and fun to listen to. The NPR Student Podcast Challenge had pushed our idea into action, giving us a timeline and a mission. We were interested in making a podcast about Wild Hearts Idaho, to reach new audiences and take a small dive into the process of podcasting. Simply put, during this partner goal we learned how to podcast!” -Madeline & Emily
“Throughout the process I’ve become more comfortable in my skin. Though I was initially nervous to interview other girls on the adventure, when it came time it was fine! Even more than fine, I enjoyed talking to them and hearing about their Wild Hearts experiences.” -Emily
“I learned how to edit our clips together. I am a big fan of many of NPR’s podcasts, and was really excited to feel like a “real” podcaster, like the people I look up to. I sometimes had to re-record my clips to sound as excited as I am about WHI, rather than the “business only” voice I had initially aspired for. Really, this was another instance for me to accept when it’s okay to take myself a little less seriously.” -Madeline
“We ask that you help us to fulfill our goal to reach new audiences, and please share with a friend! Or a group of friends! Or someone passionate about the outdoors and leadership like we are. Thank you for listening, we appreciate your support!” -Madeline & Emily
